net locks are stupid

So I managed to rescue another iPhone 3G (pictured on the left) that came
with a water damage from the previous owner – only to find out that it’s a
brand new device from February 2010 (according to the serial number) with
Baseband 05.12.01 and Bootloader 6.4 which means it apparently can’t be
unlocked. Meeh.

I think there are 3 options:

• sell it to someone with a T-Mobile SIM (Congstar prepaid doesn’t work, even though they are on the same Terrorkom network)
• get a T-Mobile SIM (too expensive)
• wait for a fix which will hopefully be available sometime soon.

Such a sim net lock is really annoying.
